Evolution of New NSX

Until now, it was announced that the SH-4WD of the next generation NSX will have the development system for next generation LEGEND, and will be installed in the mid-ship by reversing the front and back

Naturally we think that the NA horizontally mounted engine of the main unit will be the base, but it is not so.
The engine of the next generation NSX presented to the public is armed with the direct-injection twin turbo, and adopts the mid-ship layout of the vertical engine.
The first generation NSX accomplished a great evolution that was very different.
The strong leadership of the president Mr.Itou, the completeness of the American local principle, and the hot DNA of the first generation NSX was fed there.

The first bond when he as the supervisor at 32 years old.
In the first generation NSX, he was entrusted with the body development of all aluminum, and he splendidly accomplished the great task that was world first.
It was terrific because the business team decided the discontinuation of the NSX succession car (FR of Ultra V10･5L).

After assumption of office as the president, he promoted the development of next generation NSX as the HV mid-ship of new three motor type. In development, he strongly pressed forward the local principle that can also be called as the starting point of Honda “Develop and produce the NSX in the main market of United States”, in addition to the concept of “Not only fuel consumption but make the car more interesting using the motor”.
This was the first time when an American assumed the position of the person in charge of development for the global model of Honda.

The three motors of SH-4WD are hotly commented as “Use as the means to safely enjoy the casual un-delayed feeling that is important for a sports car”.

It is wonderful for achieving a light handling in the propriety super-sports car.
To be honest, I was worried hearing the “Development in the United States” but I felt sorry for that.
It is the circumstance that made me strongly feel that “No national border in the spirit of Honda!”

“Drive the Nürburgring in 6 seconds” is the talk that leaked from the authorized persons of Honda, and we can get a grip on the reality by seeing the mechanism that was presented to the public.

If you say NSX, then the clear-cut traverse mounted NA engine will come to the mind, but the next generation model changed to vertical mounting, and further armed with the V6 vertical injection 3.5L class twin turbo (Expected power 480ps).
If you see the motor that supports the SH-4WD, the rear motor 90kw inbuilt with 7 speed DCT assists in power and fuel consumption.  

The 15kw front motor that gives the torque difference in the left and right front wheel is attached to the left and right, and will achieve the handling of different dimension.

In other words, the true character of the next generation NSX means a “HV cornering machine of total system output 600HP”. This is highly unexpected, and what to say about this!

In about one year until the time of sales, Honda should harden itself to be able to exceed and endure the 300km/hr speed for the SH-4WD system.

The expectation is rising more and more on the next generation NSX, that is progressing the development every day. 

New HONDA NSX

NSX is a 2-seater sports car sold by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. during the year 1990~2005.

It was the car developed from the wish, “To have a world-class Honda car” with Honda F1, and it was sold without full model change for a very long period of 15 years starting from the year 1990 to 2005. 

During the initial sales, the price was US$78000 (8 million Yen) only for the grade 1, and this was the highest amount among the passenger car of the Japanese manufacturers at that time.
Then the price increased gradually by improvement and additional equipment, and it reached the US$88000~127000 (9~13 million Yen) level.
It was the highest amount for a Japanese car at the price of the new sports car in those days during the 15 years of sales.
The engine is C30A type V6 DOHC VTEC NA 3.0L with horizontally mounted V6 as the base, and a rear wheel drive with the engine mounted behind the driver.

Mid-ship engine and rear drive (MR) are being adopted.
Moreover, it used the “All aluminum monocoque body” that was unprecedented for the cars sold at that time.
From those special characteristics, this car was almost assembled by hand instead of assembly line operation production using industrial robot in the factory.

It was commented as the unique super-sports Japanese car similar to the Ferrari and Lamborghini, from such feature and price class.

It was developed with an aim to exceed the driving performance of Ferrari 328 a V8 model of Ferrari, and it was said that many 328 was purchased for data collection.
The driver of the F1 team to which Honda had been supplying the engine at that time such as Ayrton Senna participated in the driving test from the development phase.  

It was declared that the sales of the new model NSX is scheduled after 2010 in Japan, but the development was discontinued along with the F1 withdrawal due to the business review triggered by the worldwide finance crisis in 2008. This time, the experimental new model NSX car was presented to the public on August 4, 2013, and the demonstration driving was performed at the Indica series held in the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Ohio State.

Honda announced that it had invested about 70 million US$s (about 6.65 billion yen) in the place is adjacent to the Ohio center of United States Honda R&D Americas on May 14, 2013, constructed the factory to produce the new models "NSX". It announced that the new model NSX would be produced only here, and will be exported to all over the world starting with sales at North America. 

The start of mass production of new model NSX is on 2015, and about 100 employees have already been selected from the Ohio factory, and the training to produce new models NSX with high craftsman ship has started.  

 I think that NSX made by Honda of serious mode returning to F1 in the future makes is more attractive, though super-sports cars of the European manufacturers are also good.

It would not be like spending half of the period at the repair yard during the time of possession by instantly breaking cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari etc.
