Eel fish - Unagi

Eel fish (called as Unagi Japanese language) is not a good looking fish, but for the Japanese people it is the food loved by everyone, and saying that it as "THE BEST FEAST" is not an exaggeration.

There are lot of mysteries in an Eel fish.
The young Eel fish is captured and raised to adult fish, because the technique of raising the Eel fish has not been established. The catch of young fish has drastically reduced in the last few years, and as a result, there is a sudden price jump. Even the Japanese people could not taste much of Eel fish.



UNADON



UNAJYU

It is the treat given on some special day or when accompanying the customer.
Grilled eel on the rice in the bowl is called UNADON.
Grilled eel on the rice in nest of boxes is called UNAJYU.
Though the contents in UNADON and UNAJYU are the same, the quantity is high in UNAJYU.


There are stores all over the world serving dishes like popular Japanese dish sushi that is popular in foreign countries, and can be easily eaten, but Eel fish cannot be obtained easily.
If you see the photo, it appears like a simple dish of eel fish placed on rice, but the extent of grilling on the charcoal coupled with each shop having their own recipe for the sauce gives an immense taste.
