86 TRD Griffon Concept 014

The “86 TRD Griffon Concept 014” planned and developed by TRD executed the test run at the TSUKUBA circuit on January 31, 2014, and recorded the best lap of “58 seconds 407”. 

The “86 TRD Griffon Concept 014” is the vehicle produced by TRD based on Toyota 86. The potential of Toyota 86 was revived, body was lightened, body stiffness was strengthened, the intake, exhaust and chassis were optimized for circuit, and the purpose is to give feedback of the data at high-speed test run in the circuit to the vehicle development and product development in the future.

Time recorded at shakedown on December 2012 was shortened from 1 minutes 1 seconds 872 to 1 minutes 0 seconds 749 at the test on March 2013 in the examination in March, 2013 until.
In the 014 vehicle this time, the lap time update was achieved by the development of aero device by a further lightening and wind-tunnel test, and by the evolution by NA mechanical tuning of the FA20 engine.

At TRD, it is scheduled to complete the collection of the data based on the project by the test run this time, and to switch over to the activity of reflecting to the vehicle development and the product development in the future.
