Yamaha started as a motorcycle manufacturing and sales company in 1955.
It is not only developing the two-wheeler vehicle section such as the motorcycle and scooters which is known well but also
Developing various other products like the marine products such as boat, outboard motor, fishing boat, yachts, and marine jets, leisure vehicles such as snowmobiles and buggies, EV such as electric bikes and mobility scooters, and Industrial equipment such as industrial robot and surface mounting machines.

For the car, it was supplying the engine to companies like Toyota, Ford, and Volvo.
In the two wheeler road race competition, an intense and top contest unfolded with Ducati and Honda.
It has also participation experience in the four-wheel motor sports as an engine constructor.
It has supplied the engine to F1 teams such as Zakspeed, Brabham, Jordan, Tyrrell, Arrows etc. during 1989~1997.

As Honda was having the Suzuka and Toyota was having the Fuji test track, YAMAHA owns the sports land SUGO as the circuit for the test track.

Especially the famous thing among the Japanese motor sports lovers is that the 2000GT and LFA had the engine made by Yamaha.

Now Yamaha has announced the plan to commercialize the compact car by 2020. The development of two types of engine namely the 1000cc gasoline car and electric vehicle (EV) are progressing.

The president of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. explained at the press conference, "It is a research and development vehicle aimed at the Yamaha like car-making ".
It is said that it will develop in cooperation with the company managed by Mr. Gordon Murray from South Africa that designed the body of "McLaren Honda" that recorded 15 victories of all the 16 games in F1 in 1988.

Yamaha had earlier announced the Yamaha OX99-11 in 1991 and performed the development aiming at the market, but it did not achieve it due to various circumstances. This time, we got a very happy news.
