Masahiro Tanaka signs 7-year contract with New York Yankees

The baseball pitcher Masahiro Tanaka and ace of Rakuten who aimed at the Major League transfer has signed a 7-year contract with the New York Yankees.

The contractual coverage is 155 million dollars (about 16.1 billion yen) in total for the contract period of seven years.

While the intense competition was unfolding among 10 major baseball teams, the Yankees reached the formal contract.
This is the fifth biggest contract in the history of an all-time best MLB pitcher for an overseas FA player.

In 2013, Tanaka achieved 24 flawless successive victories from the season opening, and became first "Winningest pitcher" in the history of a Japanese professional baseball.

The brilliant achievement of "Winningest pitcher" is the first in the history.

Finally, it is a start of the dream challenge.

The expectation of the baseball fan in Japan and United States is immeasurable though he has just stood in the starting line to achieve results in major league.
Already Tanaka has respect in major league. There is You Darvish who moved to Texas Rangers two years ago.

In my view as a Japanese, You Darvish and Masahiro Tanaka have the outstanding talent in Japan, and other pitchers are nowhere near to their levels.

It is very happy to see the level these people are going to achieve in the major league.

Unfortunately, there are no pitchers to rival these two players at present.
