Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. clarified the expected sale date of the light open sports car “Copen” on June 2014, and also announced the details of the new technology used.

The new Copen, in addition to having high driving performance that is appropriate for lightweight sports car, is developed aiming to frame a new relation between the customer and the car based on the new value and shape, and has achieved a new structure of frame and resin outer panel.

The new frame structure “D-Frame” has rapidly improved the freedom of material and design of the external panel, by securing the body rigidity required for a sports car in only the frame.

The “Dress formation” has perceived the external panel of the vehicle can as parts in the internal and external attachable and removable structure, and has enabled the design selection that matches the preference of the customer by suing the resin external panel,

Additionally, potential as the lightweight sports car has been polished up by giving special tuning that is suitable for the sports car for each part.
