SUZUKI - Auto Gear Shift

Suzuki announced that it had developed a new transmission “Auto Gear Shift” that combines the advantage of both the manual and automatic transmission.
The Auto Gear Shift is the newly developed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) equipped with the electric and hydraulic system actuator that performs the clutch and shifting operation automatically in the new 5MT transmission.

The Auto Gear Shift achieved the making of the smooth shift by integrating the actuator and the controller, aiming at the integration of the operation system by directly fixing with the transmission, and further by devising the cooperation control of the clutch and shift with the engine.

The fuel consumption performance is same as the manual transmission because the basic mechanism is the manual transmission, and in addition the gear change operation optimally controlled by the computer contributes to the low fuel consumption in driving. Moreover, the clutch pedal operation and shifting operation by the driver becomes unnecessary, the creep function is provided during the starting, and easy driving is enabled when putting the car in the garage and during traffic congestion.

The manual mode can be selected to enjoy the driving, and shift change can be done at any time by the driver similar to the manual transmission. The driving happiness is offered by the synergy effect with the direct drive feeling of the manual transmission.

Suzuki will present the new model car equipped with Auto Gear Shift to the public at the Delhi Auto Expo to be held in India on February 5.
